Wellshire Golf Course

Wellshire is a Donald Ross design: golfers commissioned Ross to lay out the course on the 137-acre Skeel family farm south of Denver, drafted in 1924 and opened August 28, 1926. The Tudor-style clubhouse followed in 1927, with the full project costing about $300,000, making it one of the finest Ross courses in the West. After the private Wellshire Country Club fell into financial ruin during the Depression and went into foreclosure in 1936, the City of Denver bought the property for $60,000 and reopened it as a municipal course. It marked its 100th anniversary in 2026.
