Superior National at Lutsen-Golf Course

Superior National at Lutsen sits high above the North Shore, where a sweeping view of Lake Superior and the backdrop of the Sawtooth Mountains give the course its 'ocean view' reputation. The original layout, designed by Minnesota architect Don Herfort, opened in 1991 and later grew to 27 holes. Between 2013 and 2018, architect Jeffrey Brauer led a comprehensive redesign, marrying the River and Canyon nines into a renovated 'Premier 18' that reopened in stages, the River in 2015 and the Canyon by 2018, while the Mountain nine received ongoing in-house improvements. The Poplar River threads through many holes, and dramatic elevation changes climb and plunge across the wooded terrain. The result is a destination resort course routinely ranked among the most scenic and best in Minnesota.
