About The Legends Golf Course at Parris Island

The Legends is on Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island near Beaufort. The original course was designed by Fred Findley in 1947; Clyde Johnston's $4.5 million redesign was completed in 1999 and reopened in 2000, relocating three holes away from the Santa Elena archaeological site, a 16th-century Spanish settlement beneath part of the property. It is playable by the public, though it sits on an active military base and visitor check-in at the gate is required.
