University Ridge Golf Course

University Ridge opened in 1991 as the home course of the University of Wisconsin men's and women's golf teams, and remains one of the Midwest's premier public venues. Robert Trent Jones Jr. routed the layout across land shaped by the last glacier; the course sits on the terminal moraine where the Wisconsin Glacier halted, and its name nods to that ridge of rolling hills and valleys. The front nine plays through open, prairie-style ground while the back nine plunges into Wisconsin woodland, with preserved marsh and native grasses framing the holes. Jones returned in 2008 to add length, stretching the course past 7,200 yards. From 2016 to 2023 University Ridge hosted the American Family Insurance Championship on the PGA Tour Champions, and over the decades it has welcomed numerous NCAA, Big Ten, and state high school championships.
