About Wilmette Golf Course

Wilmette Golf Club began in 1922 as the daily-fee Playmore Golf Club on the former Hoffman dairy farm, laid out by co-owner and inventor Joseph Roseman; it turned members-only in 1924. Northwestern University bought the property in 1944, and in June 1972 voters approved a $4.4 million referendum so the Wilmette Park District could buy it, at a court-set price of $4.2 million. A $2.5 million reconstruction by architect Greg Martin was rededicated on July 10, 2014. It is a municipal, public course.
