About Petrifying Springs Golf Course

Kenosha County's 1929 plan for Petrifying Springs Park included an 18-hole course with a clubhouse, but a 1930 budget shortfall shelved it. Federal relief labor, first FERA and then the WPA, began building the course in 1934 to a design by Joseph Roseman, and it was one of five courses the WPA built in Wisconsin before 1938. The clubhouse, designed by Joseph Lindl, was completed in 1937.
