Arrowhead Pointe sits on a peninsula inside Richard B. Russell State Park near Elberton, on the 26,500-acre Lake Richard B. Russell. Georgia architect Bob Walker designed it around 2001; he has said the state gave him roughly 400 acres of the park and told him to put the course wherever he needed it. Ten of the 18 holes run along the lake and water is in play on half of them. Golf Digest named it the second-best new affordable public course in America in 2005.
