About Audubon Park Golf Course

Audubon Park Golf Course, a public course in Audubon Park, opened in 1898, making it one of the oldest golf sites in New Orleans. It holds a notable place in Black golf history: Joseph M. Bartholomew, who became the first African American golf course architect, first learned the game here as a caddie and later worked as its greenkeeper before designing courses across the region. The course was completely rebuilt in 2002 by architect Denis Griffiths into an 18-hole, par-62 short course, and it became the first Louisiana property certified under the Audubon International Signature Program.
