About Bartow Golf Course

Bartow's golf course began in 1919, when Tampa engineer Harry Knight built a nine-hole, par-37 layout on former horse pasture. In the mid-1920s the city approved a $50,000 bond to buy the club and 100 adjoining acres for a second nine, with architect W.D. Clark overseeing the plans. The 18-hole course, a City of Bartow municipal facility, officially opened December 4, 1926, and is on the Florida Historic Golf Trail.
