Boyne Mountain Resort

Boyne Mountain, in Boyne Falls, Michigan, is the original property in the BOYNE Golf family and home to two eighteen-hole courses, both designed by Michigan architect William "Bill" Newcomb. The Alpine came first, opening in 1970 across the resort's ski-hill terrain with sweeping valley views. In 1984 Newcomb completed The Monument, an ambitious tribute course whose holes borrow ideas from golf's design legends, figures such as Donald Ross, Alister MacKenzie and Robert Trent Jones Sr., and which was dedicated by Sam Snead. Both routings exploit the area's dramatic elevation changes, with bentgrass fairways and greens and long climbs and drops between shots. The Monument earned early national notice as a Golf Digest runner-up for best new resort course. Together the pair anchors a four-season resort in northern Michigan's Charlevoix County that combines golf with skiing, lodging and a water park.
