About Chequessett Club
The club was established on March 18, 1929 as the Chequesset Golf Club, a 9-hole Cape Cod course with two tee sets for 18-hole play and views of Cape Cod Bay. In 1936 tennis courts were added and the name changed to Chequessett Country Club. After the Great New England Hurricane of 1938, the Wellfleet Yacht Club took permanent anchorage there and the club became the Chequessett Yacht and Country Club, offering golf, tennis and sailing. The golf course underwent reconstruction beginning in early 2026.
