The Creek at Qualchan is the newest of Spokane's city-owned courses. Bill Robinson designed it, and it opened in 1993 in the valley south of downtown. Hangman Creek (Latah Creek) winds through the layout and comes into play on several holes. The course is named for Qualchan, a Yakama leader who was hanged near the creek in 1858 by U.S. Army troops under Col. George Wright. The creek takes its "Hangman" name from that execution. Spokane Parks & Recreation operates the course.
