Deacon's Lodge

Deacon's Lodge opened on May 31, 1999, an Arnold Palmer design that the King named in honor of his father, Milfred "Deacon" Palmer, the longtime professional and greenskeeper who first taught him the game. Planning began around 1997, with Palmer's team routing the course across a wooded, lake-dotted property in the Brainerd Lakes area. Palmer himself appeared at the grand opening, playing a memorable round alongside then-Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura. Originally operated within the Grand View Lodge family of courses, Deacon's Lodge was acquired by Breezy Point Resort in 2012 and has been part of that resort's golf offerings since. The layout is known for generous corridors framed by pines and wetlands, native grasses, and a quiet north-woods setting that reflects Palmer's affection for natural, player-friendly design.
