About The Wilderness at Fortune Bay
The Wilderness at Fortune Bay opened in 2004, carved from rugged, forested terrain of rocky outcrops and rolling hills near Tower, Minnesota, on the shores of Lake Vermilion. Texas-based architect Jeffrey D. Brauer, who also shaped the acclaimed Quarry and Legend courses at Giant's Ridge, designed the par-72 layout that stretches beyond 7,200 yards, with wide playing corridors intended to reward golfers of every ability while still challenging the best. Brauer is credited with suggesting the course's fitting name during his many site visits. Owned by the Bois Forte Band of Chippewa and part of Fortune Bay Resort Casino, the course has drawn national praise, ranking among Golf Digest's America's 100 Greatest Public Courses and repeatedly cited as one of the top public and casino courses in the state and country.
