Diamond Oaks Country Club in north Fort Worth was designed by Charles Akey, who had worked as a field engineer for architects Robert Trent Jones and Ralph Plummer. Work began around 1960 shaping the wooded terrain around Fossil Creek, and the course opened in 1961 (some sources cite 1962). The private par-70 layout is lined with oaks from tee to green and features water on seven holes.
