Preston Trail Golf Club

Preston Trail was founded by a group of Dallas businessmen intent on building a club devoted purely to golf, with no swimming pools, tennis courts or social distractions. Ground broke in 1963 and the course opened for play on May 1, 1965, in what was then rural North Dallas. Architect Ralph Plummer designed the parkland layout, with Texas legend Byron Nelson associated with the project, producing a traditional, tree-lined course that today plays over seven thousand yards. The club quickly earned a place in professional golf history, hosting the Byron Nelson Golf Classic in 1969 and 1970, won by Dave Hill and Jack Nicklaus respectively, before the tournament moved on. Preston Trail has remained deliberately private and traditional in character, a men's club focused on the game itself. Its understated, golf-first ethos and Plummer's classic routing have kept it among the most respected private clubs in the Dallas area for decades.
