East Mountain Country Club was founded in 1963 by Ted Perez Sr. and his wife Maria, who designed and built the 18-hole, par-71 course themselves. Perez intentionally built an accessible daily-fee layout for everyday working-class players rather than a championship course, and it remains a family-owned public course in Westfield.
