Eastward Ho Country Club

Eastward Ho! Country Club occupies a spectacular stretch of Cape Cod at Chatham, Massachusetts, where the land rolls and tumbles along Pleasant Bay. Established in 1922, the course was designed by the English architect Herbert Fowler, whose routing sends each nine looping out and back across dramatically heaving, treeless terrain with near-constant ocean views. The exposed, windswept site plays much like a British links, with wild elevation changes, blind shots and firm, fast turf that reward creativity and ground-game shotmaking. Later custodians helped preserve Fowler's character: Keith Foster completed a renovation in 2004, and Kyle Franz's 2024 restoration reopened sightlines and recovered lost green surface, sharpening the course's rugged aesthetic. Long a favorite of architecture enthusiasts, Eastward Ho! is celebrated as one of the most exhilarating and naturally beautiful seaside courses in the northeastern United States.
