About Edgartown Golf Club

Edgartown Golf Club is a historic private 9-hole club on Martha's Vineyard, founded in 1926 by Cornelius S. Lee, who bought the former Capt. Chase Pease Farm for about $18,000. Lee designed the course himself, inspired by St. Andrews, with help from first greenskeeper Bror Hogland, and the club officially opened on July 7, 1927 with 31 Founders paying $250 per share. It survived the Depression and the 1944 hurricane; in 1960 Lee sold the property to the club for $50,000, securing its future.
