About Furman Golf Club, The

The golf course at Furman University in Greenville was built in the late 1950s. Furman's official athletics site credits the design to Richard K. Webel of Long Island, N.Y. (of the Innocenti & Webel firm) and Walter Cosby, superintendent of grounds at the Greenbrier resort. It serves as the home course of the Furman Paladins men's and women's golf teams and is open to public play, with later renovation work attributed to Kris Spence (c. 2008) and others.
