Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club

Opened in 1986, Golden Ocala is widely credited as the world's first replica, or tribute, golf course. Florida architect Ron Garl selected eight of the game's most famous holes and re-created them within his layout: par-3s including Royal Troon's tiny Postage Stamp, Muirfield and Baltusrol among them, the opening hole and the famed Road Hole at St. Andrews complete with its stone wall, and a trio inspired by Augusta National, planted with azaleas to echo the originals. Garl's own holes round out the par-72 design. Now anchoring the World Equestrian Center community in Ocala, the club blends championship golf with a major equestrian venue. On the competitive side, Golden Ocala hosted an early-season LPGA Tour event, the Coates Golf Championship, in 2015 and 2016, drawing strong galleries before the tournament was discontinued.
