About Lakewood Golf Club - Azalea Course

The Azalea Course is one of two 18-hole layouts at the Lakewood Club beside the Grand Hotel in Point Clear, where golf began in 1947 with Perry Maxwell's original 18 holes. GolfPass credits Maxwell and Ron Garl, the latter with 1986 work. The course is named for the azalea bushes along its fairways, and its 14th hole is a par 5 ending on an island green in a four-acre lake. It was renovated and reopened in November 2019.
