Grayhawk Golf Club - Talon Course

The Talon Course opened in 1994 as the first of Grayhawk Golf Club's two eighteens, set against the McDowell Mountains in north Scottsdale. It was designed by 1979 PGA and 1981 U.S. Open champion David Graham together with Arizona architect Gary Panks, who carved out a dramatic Sonoran Desert test threaded with native mesquite, palo verde and ironwood. Talon's back nine is its calling card, routed around a series of deep box canyons with holes perched along steep drop-offs. Over the years the course has hosted notable events, including the semifinals and finals of the Andersen Consulting World Championship of Golf, pro-ams tied to Scottsdale's PGA Tour stop, and the Fiesta Bowl Golf Classic. Grayhawk later gained national fame when its neighboring Raptor Course staged the NCAA Division I men's and women's championships from 2021 through 2023.
