The Peaks was the original course at Tonto Verde, opened in 1993-94 as the centerpiece of a 600-acre community in Rio Verde northeast of Scottsdale. Designers David Graham and Gary Panks set out to disturb the native desert as little as possible, working with the existing landforms. Panks later added the Ranch Course in 2002.
