About Hatherly Country Club

Hatherly began as the Hatherly Playground Association, formed October 27, 1899 by members of the North Scituate Beach Improvement Association, starting with a few holes carved from coastal land between North Scituate Beach and Cohasset Harbor. It became a full 18-hole course on June 17, 1921 with the opening of the "new nine," designed by British-born amateur golfer Arthur G. Lockwood. The course was later revised by architects Sam Mitchell in the 1970s and Brian Silva in the 1980s.
