About Tedesco Country Club
Tedesco Country Club is a private club straddling Marblehead and Swampscott, organized in 1900 and incorporated in 1903; its original six holes were first staked along Phillips Beach in Swampscott before the club moved to its current inland site. The 18-hole course is generally credited to Eugene "Skip" Wogan, a longtime Essex County Club superintendent, with Donald Ross credited only for the 12th hole rather than the full design. The club takes its name from the bark Tedesco, a ship wrecked on the nearby Swampscott rocks in the early 19th century.
