Golf came to Northfield in 1901 when Alexander Findlay laid out a nine-hole course as an amenity for the Northfield Inn, using the property's natural contours within an amphitheater of surrounding hills. It gave hotel guests and local players a place to golf in the Pioneer Valley and remains a 9-hole public daily-fee course (par 36, roughly 2,760 yards), later purchased and operated by the Snow family.
