Est. 1902 · Alexander Findlay (original 9, 1902); Donald Ross (18-hole, completed 1916)
About Winchester Country Club
Winchester Country Club was formed in 1902, when members of the earlier Winchester Golf Club (started 1897) bought the Stephen Swan farm and Alexander Findlay laid out the initial nine-hole course. Donald Ross began working at Winchester in 1909 by adding bunkers, redesigned the original nine after more land was acquired, and oversaw an 18-hole layout completed in 1916, consulting on modifications for two decades. Later work includes Stephen Kay's 1991 redesign and Ron Forse's 2012 bunker renovation; it is a private club with a historic Ross championship course.
