Siasconset Golf Course was established in 1894 when John Grout leased land near Siasconset ("Sconset) on the former Bloomingdale Farm, whose farmhouse still serves as the clubhouse. It is the oldest surviving golf course on Nantucket and among the oldest continuously operating public courses in the United States, having never gone private. The Coffin family operated it for generations; ownership passed to the Nantucket Island Land Bank and 'Sconset Trust in 2012. It remains a public 9-hole, par-35 layout.
