Highland Green Golf Club

Est. 2005
Why we love this place

We love Highland Green for proving that nine holes can be plenty. Rock ledges, natural ridgelines and small crowned greens give it a Scottish shot-maker's feel. It is a smart, scenic test that welcomes residents, visitors and high school champions alike.

About Highland Green Golf Club

Highland Green Golf Club was built in 2005 as part of the Highland Green active adult resort community in Topsham, just off the Coastal Connector near Brunswick. The nine-hole, links-style course is marketed as Nature's Nine, and its builders worked with the land rather than against it, folding rock outcroppings and natural ridgelines into the routing. Golf writer Jim Dodson, a former Topsham resident, helped shape the design and describes it as a shot-maker's course with a distinctly Scottish feel. The layout features contoured mounding, rolling fairways, and small, crowned greens that demand precise approach play rather than brute strength. Beyond serving the community's residents, the course is home to the Mount Ararat High School golf team, which won state titles in 2018 and 2019, and a former Mt. Ararat player who went on to professional golf holds the course record, set during a high school round. It remains open to visiting golfers as well as members.
