Russell Roberts designed the course, laying it out along the natural slopes of its mountaintop site. Foretee's profile of Roberts, a Maryland course builder, names Hidden Valley as one of the last two courses he designed, and Stymie dates the opening to 1988. The par-72 course plays 6,549 yards from the back tees.
