Innisbrook Resort & Golf Club - Island

The Island Course opened in 1970 as the first of Larry Packard's four designs at Innisbrook, the veteran architect shaping all of the resort's layouts in the early 1970s. Set in the gently rolling pine and cypress country of Palm Harbor, north of Tampa, the Island runs across terrain unusually undulating for Florida. Its opening holes press against Lake Innisbrook, with lateral water demanding precise driving, while the middle stretch weaves through wooded hills. Plentiful bunkering, tight corridors and water make it a stern test that many regard as nearly the equal of the resort's celebrated Copperhead. Over the years the Island has hosted U.S. Open local qualifiers and NCAA Championship play, and has earned recognition among the nation's leading resort courses.
