Est. 1961 · George Heron
Why we love this place
Sound views, salt air and a semi-private club that has welcomed the public since 1961. We love Island's End for its North Fork setting near the very end of Long Island, its standout par-3 16th and a year-round tee sheet that fits neatly into any wine-country weekend.

About Island's End Golf & Country Club
Island's End Golf & Country Club sits on Route 25 near the eastern tip of Long Island's North Fork in Greenport, with views across Long Island Sound to the Connecticut shoreline. Local supporters rallied behind the project through a letter-writing campaign, construction began in July 1960, and the course opened for business in 1961 as a nine-hole layout designed by George Heron, a PGA professional at the original Meadow Brook Club. It expanded to eighteen holes in 1963. From the start the club chose to be semi-private with public access, a rarity on the East End at the time. The course is often mistakenly credited to Herbert Strong. Today it plays year-round, closing only on Christmas Day, and its par-3 16th is a favorite of visitors.
