About La Tourette Golf Club

La Tourette sits on the old La Tourette family farm in Staten Island's Greenbelt, worked by the family from 1830. New York City bought 120 acres of it in 1928 to build a public golf course. On May 7, 1936 the Parks Department opened a newly built second nine and a rebuilt first nine, paid for with New Deal relief funds. The 1836 Greek Revival family house serves as the clubhouse and has been a New York City Landmark since 1973. Sources disagree on who designed the course, so no architect is listed here.
