Mountain View Country Club opened in 1963 as the State College Elks Country Club, designed by Lowell Erdman, and was later renamed for its views over the surrounding hills. New ownership took over in 2012 and upgraded the course and clubhouse. A new par 3 was later added as the 16th hole, and the former 18th green became a short-game practice area.
