The golf course at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi operates as Gulf Winds Golf Course, a military Morale/Welfare/Recreation facility. It began as a rudimentary 6-hole course that opened in 1955; for years it played as a 12-hole layout (six holes played twice) and was expanded to a full 18-hole course in 1985 (some sources cite a 1962 build year). The original architect is not reliably documented.
