About Ould Newbury Golf Club
Per the club's own history, Ould Newbury was officially opened for play on Labor Day, September 4, 1916. Founders Benjamin Pearson, Dr. Charles S. Ingham and Joseph Dummer leased 60 acres from The Governor's Academy and began construction in 1915 with a $10,000 fund. Scottish architect and golfer Jim Lowe laid out and built the nine-hole course and served as its first professional. It remains a nine-hole semi-private club.
