Paris Mountain Country Club in Greenville was founded in 1938 by J.P. Traynham, who built the original nine-hole layout while still serving as greens superintendent at Greenville Country Club. Traynham left Greenville Country Club in 1948 to focus on Paris Mountain and added a second nine that opened in 1950. The 18-hole course was later redesigned by architect Tom Jackson, reopening around 1980.
