Pleasant Valley Country Club in Sutton, Massachusetts was carved out of a 350-acre apple orchard beginning in 1959 and opened in 1961 under Cosmo Mingolla, with a par-72 course of roughly 7,000 yards designed by Donald Hoenig. It became a major professional-tour venue: the LPGA's Lady Carling Open came in 1962 and the PGA Tour arrived with the 1965 Carling World Open, followed over the decades by events including the Pleasant Valley Classic and Bank of Boston Classic.
