Prairie West Golf Club opened in 1971 in Weatherford's Rader Park, near the campus of Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Labron Harris, the longtime Oklahoma State golf coach, is credited with the design, with Ward Maynard named in some listings. The 18-hole course has bentgrass greens and serves both the town and the university's golfers.
