Why we love this place

The Profile Club is a living link to the White Mountains' grand-hotel golf era, laid out in 1899 beneath Franconia Notch and lovingly kept by its members ever since. Catch it in the fall, when the public can play and the foliage does the rest.

About Profile Club, Inc.

The Profile Club grew out of the Profile House, the grand Franconia Notch hotel named for the Old Man of the Mountain. After guests pressed for golf, the Profile and Flume Hotels Corporation bought several abandoned farms, and in 1899 golf professional Arthur H. Fenn laid out the Profile Golf Links; a clubhouse opened in 1900. Harry Vardon praised the setting during his American tour that year. When the hotel burned in 1923, the golf carried on under Profile Properties, Inc., though the club nearly failed during World War II, when only five members paid dues. Gladys Symmes bought it in 1945 and restored the buildings, and in 1960 the members purchased the ownership corporation, creating the member-run Profile Club that continues today. A new clubhouse was built in 2014, and the course opens to public play in the fall.
