Why we love this place

The Country Club of New Hampshire is a long-standing public favorite at the foot of Mount Kearsarge. We love its dramatic elevation changes, the mountain views, and the fact that a William Mitchell layout Golf Digest twice ranked among America's top 75 public courses is still open to anyone with a tee time.

About Country Club Of New Hampshire

The Country Club of New Hampshire sits in North Sutton at the foot of Mount Kearsarge, about 45 miles northwest of Manchester. According to the club's management company, the course was built by architect William F. Mitchell and opened in 1957, and it has long been counted among the finest public courses in the state. Some golf directories give it a longer history, crediting an original nine holes from about 1930 to the firm of Wayne Stiles and John Van Kleek, with Mitchell adding the back nine and reworking the existing holes in 1963; the club itself has not published those earlier dates. The par-72 layout plays to roughly 6,700 yards, with marked elevation changes and wide views of Kearsarge and the surrounding hills. Golf Digest twice rated it one of the top 75 public courses in the United States, and Golfweek ranked it second among New Hampshire's public courses in 2025. That same year the privately owned club brought in KemperSports to manage it, the company's first property in New Hampshire.
