King Rail Golf Course

Designed by William F. Mitchell, the course opened in 1966 as part of the Colonial Country Club, a private Lynnfield resort that George Page built into an 18-hole course with a clubhouse, restaurant and hotel — Colonial famously hosted early professional golf played under the lights. Colonial closed in 2007, and the town of Lynnfield reopened it in 2010 as the municipally owned nine-hole King Rail Reserve, named for the endangered King Rail bird of the adjacent Reedy Meadow.
