About Widows Walk Golf Course

Widow's Walk, owned by the Town of Scituate, opened in 1997 as the United States' first "environmental demonstration" golf course, built on the site of an abandoned gravel quarry. Designed by Dr. Michael Hurdzan of the Hurdzan/Fry firm, it was engineered to use roughly half the water, fertilizer and pesticides of a typical course, relying on drought- and disease-resistant fescue grasses. Golf Digest named it among the best new courses in America at opening, and it is an Audubon International Certified Cooperative Sanctuary.
