Hoodkroft Country Club

Why we love this place

Hoodkroft turned a famous dairy farm's pasture into a full-length, thoughtful nine, and you can still feel the open farmland on every hole. Five tee boxes per hole make a second loop feel new, and the community spirit is the real thing.

About Hoodkroft Country Club

Hoodkroft Country Club was built in 1971 on rolling land in Derry that had been part of the dairy farm of the Hood family, whose milk business dates to 1846. The fields were once cow pasture, and older residents remember cows crossing East Broadway between the fields and the barn. The Hood family donated the land that became the course, sparing it from development, and Philip Wogan designed the nine-hole layout. At more than 3,200 yards from the longest tees and par 36, it is a full-length nine, and today it offers five tee boxes per hole, so golfers can play the second nine from different tees for a varied 18-hole round. The club counted more than 150 members in 2011 and has been guided by a member board, while also operating as a public course with league play, tournaments, special events and daily green fees at 121 East Broadway.
