Hale's Location Country Club

Est. 1990 · Albert Zikorus
Why we love this place

Hale's Location might be the prettiest nine holes in the Mount Washington Valley, with mountain views from every tee and crowned greens that demand a deft touch. It is a full-length par 36 that plays like a hidden resort secret, and in winter the same fairways turn into ski trails.

About Hale's Location Country Club

Hale's Location Golf Course was built as part of the White Mountain Hotel and Resort in the tiny township of Hale's Location, just outside North Conway, and the resort and its golf club welcomed their first guests in 1990. The nine-hole, par-36 course was designed by Albert Zikorus, and it was laid out through forest against the backdrop of the White Mountains, surrounded by state and national park land. Zikorus gave the course crowned bentgrass greens, lush fairways, water hazards and firm bunkering, and he built an unusual routing that the club described as unlike anything most golfers had played. Golf Magazine called it one of the most unique and singularly beautiful golf developments in the country. The course measured about 2,956 yards from the blue tees, with four tee sets in all, and carried a USGA rating of 68.8 and a slope of 127. It was open to public play with memberships available, offered hotel guests special tee times, and in winter its fairways were used for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.
