Why we love this place

We love Stonybrook as the kind of nine-holer every town deserves: hilly, charming and quick to play, with Butternut Brook winding through and a lively clubhouse waiting afterward. It's perfect for a twilight loop, a round with the kids, or an easy first outing for a brand-new golfer.

About Stonybrook Golf Course

Stonybrook Golf Course is a nine-hole public layout on Milton Road in Litchfield, in the hills of Connecticut's northwest corner. Its design is credited to Al Zikorus, described as an apprentice of Donald Ross, who is said to have drawn the course in 1955; course directories record it opening for play in 1966. The routing covers roughly 2,900 yards over hilly ground, playing to a par of 35 for men and 36 for women, with generous fairways, well-kept greens and scenic Butternut Brook weaving through the property. For decades it served as a quiet local favorite, and in 2021 new owners took over with the goal of making it an energetic, welcoming hub for the community. They added an environmentally minded clubhouse with a modern restaurant and pro shop and filled the calendar with public and member events, from cook-offs to holiday gatherings, while keeping the nine-hole course open to everyone who wants a quick, charming round.
