We love Painted Valley for the sheer drama of it: plunging into that valley off the tee, then cresting onto the meadow with three ski mountains laid out in front of you. It is long and honest, the air is thin, and the views are endless. A big-golf day worth savoring.

About Promontory Club - Jack Nicklaus Course
The Painted Valley course is one of two championship layouts at the private Promontory Club above Park City, Utah, opening in 2007 as a companion to Pete Dye's earlier Canyon course. Jack Nicklaus, working with design associate Chet Williams, routed a links-inspired course through dramatic high-altitude terrain: the front nine dives into and climbs back out of a deep valley framed by natural rock walls, while the back nine opens onto a high meadow with sweeping views of Park City's three ski mountains. Stretching close to 8,000 yards from the tips, it ranks among the longest courses in the country, though thin mountain air meaningfully shortens carries. Bentgrass greens are shaped with swales, hollows and runoffs, and water dominates the closing stretch. Golf Digest named it the nation's third-best new private course in 2008.
