La Paloma Golf Club

The first 18 holes of La Paloma opened in 1984 as one of Jack Nicklaus's early Signature designs, carved into the rocky foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains north of Tucson. A third nine followed, giving the club 27 holes played as three interchangeable nines: the Ridge, Canyon and Hill. Nicklaus routed the holes through arroyos, boulder outcrops and dramatic elevation changes, producing a course known for forced desert carries and demanding target golf, and a reputation as one of Arizona's toughest resort layouts. The course adjoins the Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa, which opened in 1986; play is otherwise reserved for members of La Paloma Country Club and resort guests. Sweeping views over Tucson from the elevated holes are a signature.
