About Superstition Mountain Golf Club
Superstition Mountain Golf & Country Club sits in Gold Canyon, at the eastern edge of metro Phoenix, beneath the jagged silhouette of the Superstition Mountains. Jack Nicklaus, working with his son Gary, designed its two 18-hole courses: the Prospector, which opened in 1998, and Lost Gold, which followed in 1999. The club quickly became a competitive proving ground, hosting the LPGA's Safeway International from 2004 through 2008 and the Champions Tour's 2002 Tradition, along with NCAA and USGA events. Long a private club, it pairs sweeping mountain backdrops with the strategic bunkering and bold green complexes typical of Nicklaus design. The two courses are slated to host the 2026 Senior PGA Professional and 2028 PGA Professional Championships, extending a decades-long tournament pedigree.
